Scrive eID Hub expands to Belgium

Scrive’s eID Hub authentication platform now supports digital identity transactions for Belgian users of the itsme® digital ID, under a new agreement with Belgian Mobile ID.

The itsme app was launched by Belgian Mobile ID in 2017 to give Belgium citizens a single digital ID for all digital interactions, and has been integrated into sites and apps for social security, finance and tax administration, e-health, human resources, telecom, document management and banking.

The Scrive eID Hub API provides a single point of access to Scrive’s growing suite of eIDs for the European market, making it easy to integrate secure login, ID checks and other identity verification solutions into customer-facing services and internal systems.

This agreement marks Scrive’s first entry into the Belgian digital identity market“, says Scrive CEO Viktor Wrede. “The integration of itsme into our eID Hub allows Scrive customers to authenticate and digitally onboard their Belgian customers securely and compliantly.”

“itsme® is the preferred digital ID for 1.5 million Belgians, representing 20% of the Belgian active population. Each month, nearly 5 million transactions are done with itsme®”, says Sylvie Vandevelde, itsme Head of Business, Marketing & Communication. “In a digital world, every individual needs a simple, secure way of accessing public and private services. Working together with Scrive will accelerate the uptake of secure authentication.”

“The use of mobile ID is relatively new in Belgium”, Wrede continues, “and we expect this solution to drive adoption further while expanding Scrive’s reach into the European market. Strong authentication methods are becoming increasingly important for our customers, many of whom operate in highly-regulated industries like banking and finance, automotive, HR and telecom.”

Scrive eID Hub already offers coverage throughout the Nordics, and the itsme digital ID  joins two other recent additions: Verimi in Germany and iDIN in the Netherlands.
