Mobile-ID
Mobile-ID is a SIM card–based electronic identity in the Baltics that turns a mobile phone into a personal identification document, enabling secure authentication and signing.
Mobile-ID
Mobile-ID is a digital identity solution used in Estonia and Lithuania. It enables users to access online services that typically require an ID card, without the need for a smart card reader or additional software.
The solution is based on a special SIM card issued by mobile network operators, which securely stores the user’s digital certificates. Once activated, the certificate is valid for 5 years, during which users can authenticate, sign documents and confirm transactions using their mobile phone and PIN codes.
Mobile-ID can be used across devices. For example, a user can initiate a transaction on a desktop and confirm it on their mobile phone.
Mobile-ID is widely used across public and private sector services in the Baltic region and is available through Scrive’s eSign platform and via the eID Hub.
Authentication
Each time a user logs in, signs a document or confirms a transaction, they authenticate using their mobile phone.
The process typically involves:
- Initiating the request in a service
- Receiving a prompt on the mobile device
- Confirming the action using PIN codes
This ensures that authentication and signing actions are securely linked to the identity of the user.
About Mobile-ID
Mobile-ID is developed by SK ID Solutions in cooperation with mobile network operators in Estonia and Lithuania.
It is widely used for authentication, digital signing and transaction confirmation, supporting both public and private sector digital services.
