Achieving big results by starting small

Digital transformation projects have a reputation for spiralling out of control: scope creep, ballooning budgets, missed deadlines. For large enterprises especially, it’s no wonder that many would rather stick to “business as usual” than commit to a multi-year, multi-million euro overhaul.

But what if it didn’t have to be that way?

At Scrive, we see time and again that transformation doesn’t have to be slow, complicated, or all-or-nothing. Even the largest companies can take small steps, see immediate results, and then scale at their own pace.

The speedboat vs the oil tanker

We recently published our customer case with MediaMarktSaturn, one of Europe’s largest retailers. With over 2 billion annual customer interactions, they could easily have seen digitalisation as an overwhelming challenge.

Instead, they embraced what they call a “speedboat approach”: agile, bite-sized projects with quick ROI.

“Digitalising processes and seeing initial successes within weeks was like comparing an agile speedboat to a slow, lumbering oil tanker.”
Tobias Kißmer, Global Head of IT Workplace, MediaMarktSaturn

The results have been transformative:

  • 90%+ adoption of e-signatures among German customers
  • Over 4 million pages of paper saved
  • Over 1 million signed documents
  • Faster HR and back-office workflows
  • More time for employees to focus on customers

They went far beyond simply digitalising customer-facing contracts, they discovered opportunities across HR, warehouse operations and executive approvals. Starting small unlocked much more than they expected, even in their green initiative where they’ve seen a 10 ton reduction in CO2 emissions!

One step leads to another

This pattern is familiar across Scrive customers: start with one process, prove the value, and then expand.

  • Comas Group, a multinational manufacturing technology company, began with one subsidiary going paperless to simplify sales. The parent company soon saw the value and began rolling Scrive out across the group, adapting to each business unit’s needs.
  • Volkswagen Group Sverige AB faced frequent delays with reseller contracts: around 10% of the 400,000 agreements signed annually had to be re-sent due to errors. With Scrive’s API, they eliminated lost and mis-scanned contracts, shortened turnaround times, and earned the trust of both resellers and customers.

“If we hadn’t worked with you guys on this, we would have been stuck with a process that wouldn’t meet customer demand or expectations at all.”
Alexander André, Product Manager Sales, Volkswagen Group Sverige AB

  • Three Sweden wanted to modernise customer contracts in-store but were held back by legacy systems. Scrive’s adaptability made the rollout seamless. Today, all employment contracts and 90% of other agreements are signed digitally, with contract amendments processed 80% faster.

“What we saw with Scrive was that they were a good fit for us culturally, very adaptable, easy to work with and collaborative. We could see from the beginning that Scrive were helping us to move forward.”
Sofia Levin, Head of Customer Service Development, Three

  • Academic Work Germany gained both efficiency and visibility. Before Scrive, sales felt like a black box. With eSign integrated into their CRM, they now have a full funnel view and know exactly what to optimise.
